Uganda’s bean markets are experiencing a welcome supply boost this season, as a strong fresh harvest fills local markets with high-quality stock and pushes wholesale prices sharply lower.
Wholesale bean prices in Uganda have dropped to between UGX 2,200 and UGX 2,500 per kilogram, reflecting the scale of the current harvest. The abundance of affordable, high-quality beans has been significant enough to halt imports from Tanzania entirely — a clear signal of how well-supplied the domestic market currently is.
With local demand comfortably met, Uganda has shifted into export mode, sending surplus stock across the border to Kenya. This regional trade flow highlights Uganda’s growing capacity to serve as a reliable bean supplier within East Africa, particularly during seasons of strong harvest yield.
For buyers and trade partners across the region, this presents a timely opportunity: competitive pricing, strong quality, and increased regional availability all point to favorable sourcing conditions in the current window.
